Day 12: Nablus

We left campus early in the morning for Nablus. we started the day at the archaeological and religious site of Jacobs Well. We took a tour and admired the breathtaking church and artwork. Next, we went to the Balata Refugee Camp where we listened to the plight of people living in the camp. Refugees were lovely enough to show us some of their incredible debka dancing. We had delicious Msakhan and took a tour around the camp. We then went to downtown Nablus and saw where they make their famous handmade soap at the Touqan Soap Factory. Next, we stopped at Sabastia which is an archaeological site full of well preserved Roman ruins. We concluded the day by visiting the Samaritan community in Qariyet Lozeh, where we learned about their culture, religion, and traditions as well as how they relate to the Palestinian identity.
